Saddleworth Rounders League

It all started when Billy & Angie Riley started the league for the women to have some fun on a Sunday............

NATIONAL ROUNDERS ASSOCIATION (NRA)

The National Rounders Association (NRA) is a small governing body which is managed by a group of volunteers called the Executive Committee. These members have responsibility for particular parts of the sport, as well as the overall responsibility for ensuring the effective governance of rounders.

The Saddleworth Rounders League is affiliated to the NRA as it is the only governing body for the sport of rounders. Each team who takes part in the Saddleworth League MUST affiliate to the NRA in order to be covered by their insurance.

Fees are approx £45 per annum made payable to the NRA, this covers public liability insurance only , not personal accident cover, a free rule book, a free ball and discounted entry fees to national competitions and courses. Being affiliated to the NRA means we play by the correct rules and keep up to date with the changes in how the sport is played.

For more information on the NRA please take time to have a look on their website which is www.nra-rounders.co.uk

Congratulations to Shaw Magpies who are our 2008 league champions.  They put in a stunning performance throughout the season led by Rachel Hurst as captain.

Shaw Magpies also won the 2008 North West Counties Champions League which was held in St Helens earlier on in the season.

And also well done to The Farrars who came runners up and to Team TAG for coming third last year.

Shaw Magpies 2008 league champions

The ladies and the junior league presentations were held separately at Uppermill Cricket Club with DJ and dancing.  Everyone seemed to have a good night and the presentations were kept short and sweet so everyone could get on with enjoying themselves.

Well done to everyone who took part in the Saddleworth Rounders League and Saddleworth Rounders Junior League during 2008.  And good luck to everyone taking part in the forthcoming season.
